The Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Local Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Meena Khan Afridi, inaugurated a multi-purpose IT center at Women University Mardan, established with the support of UN Women and the Korea International Cooperation Agency.
Upon arrival at the university, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Razia Sultana, along with faculty members, warmly received the guests. The ceremony was attended by Members of Provincial Assembly Tufail Anjum, Abdul Salam Afridi, Secretary Higher Education Dr. Muhammad Israr, Dr. Gul Muhammad, and other distinguished participants.
The center, established under the university’s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), aims to provide female students with modern IT skills. Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dr. Razia Sultana stated that the importance of information technology in the modern era cannot be denied, and female students can earn respectable livelihoods from home by acquiring digital skills. She also thanked UN Women for its support in establishing the center.
UN Women representative Zainab Qaiser Khan said the organization is actively working for women’s financial empowerment, and through this program, female students are being equipped with digital skills to become self-reliant.
Secretary Higher Education Dr. Muhammad Israr, in his remarks, emphasized that no country can progress without including women in national development, and universities can play a vital role in training women according to modern requirements.
